“THEY SHOT, HE SCORED”: A BOOK LAUNCH AND JAZZ CELEBRATION OF THE GENIUS OF ELDON RATHBURN

Featuring: James Wright (author, They Shot, He Scored: The Life and Music of Eldon Rathburn, McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2019), Petr Cancura (saxophones), Kevin Turcotte (trumpet), Marianne Trudel (piano), Adrian Vedady (bass), Jim Doxas (drums), Allyson Rogers and Adrian Matte (arrangers).

Arguably Canada’s most prolific composer of film music, Rathburn frequently blended influences ranging from classical, dance, folk, popular and jazz styles into a delightful mélange. The program of brilliant jazz arrangements of a selection of Rathburn’s animated film music by this all-star Canadian quintet (The Romance of Improvisation in Canada: The Genius of Eldon Rathburn, Justin Time Records, 2018), will be introduced by author James Wright.
