Kingston conductor, composer appointed to Order of Canada

 

“Kingston’s Mark Sirett has been appointed to the Order of Canada.

The internationally acclaimed choral conductor and composer was one of 99 new appointees announced by the Governor General’s Office on Dec. 29, 2022.

Sirett has been made a Member of the Order of Canada for “his steadfast commitment to the field of choral music as a renowned composer, conductor and community leader.”

“I am deeply honoured to be appointed to the Order of Canada and to join a number of my colleagues from across the country who have been members, musicians I highly respect and admire for their work,” Sirett told the Whig-Standard in a phone interview on Tuesday…”
