The 43rd E-Gré Competition Voice goes ONLINE September 19-20, 2020

Brandon, Manitoba – The annual Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition (E-Gré), which began
in 1976, was the vision of composer, pianist and violinist S. C. Eckhardt-Gramatté. It is unique in its
devotion to the performance excellence of 20th- and 21st-century music and to the creation of over 40 new
commissioned works by Canadian composers. For forty-three years, the E-Gré Competition has
championed exceptional emerging Canadian performers and Canadian music. To accomplish this, we have
hosted a competition consisting of a preliminary recorded round and two live final rounds, and
commissioned a test piece from a Canadian composer. The winner also undertakes a cross-Canada tour,
which provides an opportunity for them to further strengthen their performance skills and develop an
audience-base.
