Grant applications are a critical part of building a sustainable career as a composer in Canada. They can also be intimidating, especially for first-time applicants, and while granting agencies may provide some guidance as to how best to approach the specific requirements of their individual granting programs, sometimes there’s nothing quite as helpful as seeing the real thing

Thanks to the generosity of a number of successful grant applicants at both the provincial and federal levels, the CLC has been able to create a database of successful grants. While all identifying information has been redacted in order to protect the identity of the applicants, these documents provide prospective applicants with a first-hand look at the sort of content and language that grant recipients have used when applying to specific agencies and / or programs.

The intention is for this database to be a living, evolving resource that will continue to be relevant to composers looking for assistance with grant applications. If you are interested in submitting a successful grant to the database, please email generalmanager@composition.org.
