The Red Band has become one of the top jazz performing organizations in Western Canada. It has performed feature concerts with Bobby Shew, Tommy Banks, Gary Guthman, Denny Christianson and Pat LaBarbera and in 1987 it was a featured ensemble at the Kent-Meridian Jazz Festival in Seattle, Washington. The award-winning ensemble has previously recorded two critically-acclaimed albums: Night Suite and Late as Usual. This recording features compositions by Red Band members Wynn Gogol and Joe Slabe as well as by U of C faculty member Charles Foreman.
