Winter Solstice

On this
northern morning
Winter wraps and ermine cloak
about the snowy oaks, while
deep inside
the Tree of a Thousand Rings of Amber
Summer lies wound
in coils of dreamy slumber
and warm imaginings,
mint scented, abuzz with honeybees,
of meadows and contented kings.
At Solstice
Darkness leads the dance,
her pace, a slow ballet,
conveying Winter’s grace.
