Concertino for Accordion and Percussion was commissioned by the Canadian accordionist Joseph Petric, under a grant from the Ontario Arts Council. It was completed in 1984 and fully revised in 2023. Materials of all three movements stem from the same nine-note sequence, resulting in a triple concerto were all three participants share the spotlight equally. Obvious to the listener will be the rhythmic drive of the outside movements, the lyricism of the middle one and the superposition of these two elements in the Codas.
