Marda Loop was composed for The Complete Rebirth of the Cool project — new pieces inspired by Miles Davis’s The Complete Birth of the Cool album, using the same instrumentation. The title refers to a neighbourhood in Calgary the rhythm of whose name inspired some of the melodic motives.
