SOCAN Foundation announces winners of 2024 Young Canadian Composer Awards
The SOCAN Foundation is proud to announce that this year, 22 honors, totaling more than $45,000, are being awarded to SOCAN member composers aged 30 and under who’ve distinguished themselves through their composition talent in the Young Canadian Composer Awards.
Friends of Canadian Music Award 2024: Call for Nominations
Jointly administered by the Canadian League of Composers (CLC) and the Canadian Music Centre (CMC), this award hands out a total of $4000: $2000 for the recipient, and $2000 for an early-career composer/sound artist/creator of the recipient’s choice.

Violinist Gillian Smith And Pianist Jennifer King Bring Nova Scotia To Toronto
Halifax musicians Gillian Smith (violin) and Jennifer King (piano) will bring an all-Canadian program titled From Sea to Sky to Toronto as part of a three-city tour. Along with Halifax, where the tour kicks off on September 12, and Toronto (September 25), they’ll be traveling north to Yellowknife, NWT (September 28).

From 1912 until 1948, you could win medals in art at the Olympic Games, in categories such as architecture, literature, music, painting and sculpture.
