David Occhipinti is a Canadian composer, guitarist, and JUNO-nominated recording artist who has released recordings that feature his unique musical voice. As a composer, David has a wide-ranging list of works and he composed works for solo artists (Erica Goodman, Beverley Johnston, children’s choir (CCOC), vocal works (Carla Huhtanen, Alex Hetherington), chamber groups (Arraymusic, Art of Time Ensemble) and large ensembles (Camera Ensemble, RALE). these out of infinite is a new recording by composer David Occhipinti that features works for the female voice in solo settings (a capella, with crystal glasses, and guitar resonance), with a chamber ensemble (2-4 strings, 2 woodwinds, harp and pitched percussion) and a work for children’s chorus with harp accompaniment.
The voices featured on the CD are by vocalists Minjia Chen (Tortoise Orchestra), Robin Dann (Bernice), mezzo-soprano Alex Hetherington (Toronto Lyric Opera Centre, Tapestry Opera), and Carla Huhtanen (Opera Atelier, Toronto Symphony Orchestra). Text for the songs is taken from Emily Brontë, Emily Carr, E.E. Cummings, Emily Dickinson, T.S. Eliot, James Joyce, and Dylan Thomas. The chamber ensemble prominently features Beverley Johnston on marimba and vibraphone, and Erica Goodman on harp.
