Nikolai Korndorf in Memoriam

Recorded in the finest musical venue in Sofia, Bulgaria, this CD was made to commemorate the Russian-born Canadian composer and dear friend, Nikolai Korndorf. To date very little of his music is available to the listening public. It is my hope that this CD helps fill the void.

The recording includes three compositions, two of which are Korndorf’s finest works, “Lullaby” for two pianos, and “Yarilo” for solo prepared piano. The third work is the landmark First Piano Sonata of Korndorf’s celebrated forebear, Alfred Schnittke. Together, the works of these two men help define an entire musical epoch.
