Adaskin String Quartet No. 1:

“A lilting melody juxtaposed with a three-note motive gives the first movement of Murray Adaskin’s string quartet a light, impish quality. In great contrast, dream-like duets lend an ethereal mood to the slow movement. The finale opens with a syncopated dance-like motive. Eventually the cello line sings its own jazzy version of the material with the other three instruments interjecting fleeting sixteenth note responses.”
