Although this is their first recording together, Henrik Frisk and Richie Beirach have worked together frequently since 1989. In recent years, they have toured extensively throughout Europe and in fact completed a series of concerts in Scandanavia just prior to gathering in New York City for this recording in the spring of 1997. The music therein is testament to the kind of creative interplay that can only be established with time: an intuitive communication that develops over many years beyond any particular stylistic or aethetical goals. It is a music deeply rooted in the traditions of jazz and the harmonies of the twentieth century yet, in the final moment, most deeply dependent upon the mutual trust and shared experience of the performers themselves.
