This recording is a souvenir of Guitar Québec ’94, an international Guitar and Lute Festival held at Laval University in Quebec City, July 10-16, 1994.

We have recorded here some of the pieces performed during the festival by the Guitar Ensemble as well as the highlights of the final guitar and orchestra concert. The Guitar Ensemble, which consisted of twenty-six players selected from University Schools of Music and Conservatories of the Province of Quebec, started rehearsing one day before the Festival under the direction of Katia Makdissi Warren. Leo Brouwer took over on Wednesday, and the recording was made in Laval Universities Concert Hall, the day after the Festival.
