Romance: Early Canadian Chamber Music, features Edvard Skerjanc, violinist, Rosalind Sartori, cellist and Elaine Keillor, pianist. They perform the outstanding Piano Trio by the maritime composer Edward B. Manning (1874-1948). Two Sonatas are included, that for cello and piano by Leo Smith (1881-1952), and Gena Branscombe’s written in 1920 for violin and piano. Other selections on this recording appear in the Chamber Music: Duos volume of the Canadian Musical Heritage series and include works by Alexis Contant, Clarence Lucas, Laura Lemon, Rodolphe Mathieu and Claude Champagne.
