In All That Glitters (2023), the common thread is one of expectation. In the first movement ‘romanze’, a simple and sweet opening motif is gradually spun out and transformed in unexpected ways. The second movement, ‘agitation’, plays with the tension of pent-up energy and its release into a flurry of activity. The third movement ‘waiting’ was written to capture the wistfulness of perpetually waiting for something or someone who will never return.

All That Glitters was commissioned by trumpeter Adam Zinatelli, and made possible through funding from the Canada Council for the Arts.
