This work was commissioned jointly by the York, East York and Brantford symphony orchestras under a grant from the Ontario Arts Council in 1994. All three orchestras premiered excerpts from it in their 1994/95 concert seasons. The work has been thoroughly revised and re-engraved in 2023/24.

Typical balletic musical gestures and moods will be easily recognized by the audience, starting with a dramatic and ominous Prelude, followed by a very danceable mixed-metered Pas d’action, an emotional Pas de Deux with three fast-paced variations and ending with a grand uplifting Apotheosis. It is to be hoped that, immersed in this music, the listener’s imagination will be inspired to create its own balletic images and storylines along the way.
