Originally written for piano trio, Go Your Way was performed in that version in February 2010 at the KWCMS. I was in the audience and was quite taken with the work, so I asked Rebekah if she would turn it into an orchestral work for us. She writes that “this piece embodies the pain of letting go of familiar relationships and circumstances in order to fully embrace the winds of change.” Moving to Waterloo and entering a university a whole decade older than her fellow students, Rebekah went through a ‘stretching time’ as her life turned dramatically in a whole new direction. Go Your Way is meant to symbolize her loneliness and frustration during the transition process and ultimately the beauty of surrendering to it.
