“Wiośnianki” (Spring Songs) – Tyler Versluis, Artist in Residence
For misfortunes and sorrows,
The songs of the forget-me-not grow,
Every now and then a new flower will spring up,
Like the cerulean eyes of angels.
Thus Teofil Lenartowicz wrote to articulate the complex braid of natural beauty, hardship and song, nestled deeply in the spirit of humanity. Even more complex is how we navigate this complexity through the eyes of children, as they encounter the dearths and bounty of life, the harshness and beauty of springtime. “Wiośnianki” (Springs Songs), a new song cycle composed by CMC Artist in Residence Tyler Versluis, is an ode to nature, misfortune, and the resilience of children.
Public concert presentation: March 6th, 7:30PM
