This Klezmer-informed piece was inspired by a road trip on Vancouver Island that I (Itamar Danziger) took with Mike Keddy, a musician and educator. Mike showed me a local tree, the Arbutus, which grows in very specific areas, including in certain parts of Vancouver Island. Those grand trees seemed very personable to me – quite anthropomophically inviting. It was almost like the trees were dancing through the forest and the winds! This piece is as an ode to Mike, the impressive tree that Mike introduced me to, and his passion for music – all of which, are a big inspiration to many.
