Malaby:
In his two decades as an integral member of New York City’s improvised music community, saxophonist and composer Tony Malaby has emerged as a wholly unique and singular voice. DownBeat‘s “80 Coolest Things in Jazz” article said “[Malaby] is a formidably accomplished soprano and tenor saxophonist with enviable tone and an endless font of compelling ideas [who] steers his music away from perfection”

Fraser:
“Fraser not so much plays the drums as hurls himself whole body and soul against skin and metal… truly talented.” – Bill Stunt, CBC Radio.

Splendide Abysse:
Splendide Abysse is a quartet featuring Belinda Campbell (prepared piano ~ dx7), Frédérique Roy (accordeon ~ voice) and Carlo Costa (drums ~ percussion), all of whom Philippe Lauzier (bass clarinet ~ composition) has worked with in duo formations in the past. Amid aquatic timbres, often altered by instrumental preparations, the ensemble develops microcosms of delicately interwoven gestures and sounds that stand in impalpable buoyancy. The musical unfolding, stretched and fragmented by silence, creates an atmosphere of persistent, sustained listening. The compositions allow the four musicians to make significant improvisational contributions, connecting the materials and spaces created
