Jazz at the Centre

Andrew McAnsh:
Music of the Great Lakes

The Canadian Music Centre (CMC) is thrilled to continue its new Jazz at the Centre concert series with award-winning trumpeter and composer Andrew McAnsh.  On March 27, 2023, McAnsh will present “Music of the Great Lakes (A Songbook for the Canadian Indigenous). This suite explores the music of each lake as it hosts tribes including Chippewa/Ojibwe, Cree, Dakota/Sioux, Huron, Iroquois. Each tribe holds idiosyncrasies native to its geographical zone that make for powerful rituals, ceremony, and music. Under the direction of Danilo Perez, (UNESCO Artist for Peace) Andrew explores his vision with his Great Lakes Suite.

The Jazz at the Centre series is curated by Producer and Artist Representative, Céline Peterson.

Andrew McAnsh is a an artist whose musicianship knows no bounds. He wears his heart on his sleeve as you will hear in both his writing and performance. Along with being a sensational storyteller, he is a musician and composer that welcomes a challenge, which only elevates the calibre of his performance.”
