Iranian-Canadian Composers of Toronto (ICOT) present ten new commissions featuring virtuoso accordion player Michael Bridge.
These works were selected following a call for scores. Fifty-three submissions were received from composers across the globe with a variety of styles and compositional aesthetics. At the outset the jury intended to select three pieces, however due to the high quality of submissions, seven scores were chosen. The selected composers and compositions are:
- Asterism – Gilberto dos Santos Agostinho Filho (Germany)
- Daramad – Ali Balighi (Iran)
- Mosafer – Nastaran Pouladzadeh (Canada)
- Study No. 2 – Alan Ahued Naime (Mexico)
- Trazo – Edson Zampronha (Spain)
- utrolig varmt vann – Tze Yeung Ho (Norway) CMC Associate Composer
- Virgules – Christina Athinodorou (Cyprus)
These pieces will be performed along with Three Reflections on Empathy, a composition by ICOT member Pouya Hamidi.
Generously supported by The Mary-Margaret Webb Foundation, The McLean Foundation and the Canada Arts Presentation Fund.
