Multilocation | Dame Cook
22 July 2021 @ 20:00 EDT
Dame Cookʼs nature, interrupted is an audiovisual collaboration with multimedia artist Hollis B, containing a set of compositions created during/in response to the current pandemic and its effect on their artistry set to repurposed stock footage. Drawing from musical inspirations like ambient, electroacoustic, noise, dub, and pop, as well as Dameʼs personal history as an improvising musician, nature, interrupted is a house with many rooms, and a guided tour waiting for you.
nature, interrupted is part of the digital edition of FAWN Chamber Creative’s Convergence Theory Series, co-curated by David Jones. FAWN’s series aligns the expressionistic spirit of experimental electronic music (from classical and beyond), new media art and their audiences as a means of broadening the community and their respective creative capacities as listeners and artists. Cook was to perform live in FAWN’s 2019/2020 season finale, which they re-envisioned for the digital environment in response to the shut-down of live performance.
In lieu of admission fees, FAWN and the CMC invite audience members to make contributions to The AFC and Friends of Ruby. Details for both organizations appear below.

Hollis Bullock (they/he) is a multimedia artist, working in both the digital and physical realms. Whether repurposing discarded objects, or working with found-footage video, pre-loved objects hold a special place in their heart and their artwork. Hollisʼ work explores themes of nostalgia and pop-culture iconography, kitsch, queer and punk culture, and how nature and technology interact. Photo credit: Dame Cook
