Canadian drummer, composer and bandleader Jay Boehmer has been performing on the Toronto jazz scene since 1990. Composing at the piano with the spirit of a drummer, his music ranges from straight-ahead swing to offbeat rhythmic grooves.

Ancient Gardens is Colleen Athparia's second solo CD. It showcases an array of rarely-recorded music by Brazilian, French, Spanish and Canadian composers.

A wild mixture of solo marimba, Zimbabwean thumb piano, electronic experiment and contemporary jazz.

Mike Gauthier decided for this CD to "reflect" on the bluesier side of the jazz spectrum, and in this recording Gauthier & Co. go from the basic 12 bar form to standard american song forms "à la blues" including along the way, other originals that Mike describes as "not necessarily blues numbers, but tunes that lend themselves well to the blues mentality."

The sounds here represent the wide open way we play for warm listening jazz club crowds. The solos stretch and the individuals go for it. It's exciting, rough and honest - a snapshot of one very special night for us - our first ever live recording.
