Whether in recital or opera, soprano Sophie Bouffard is recognized for her great expressivity, her rich and vibrant voice, as well as her ability to captivate audiences. Born and raised in Quebec City, Ms. Bouffard received her vocal training at Laval University in both studios of Michel Ducharme and Marie-Danielle Parent, and also in Belgium in the class of the world-renowned singer-pedagogue Loh Siew-Tuan.

A versatile singer, her repertoire ranges from baroque to new music, from opera to recital.

She has performed with the Belgium National Opera House La Monnaie, Opera Saskatchewan, the Saskatoon Opera, the Regina Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Symphonique de Trois-Rivières, to name a few.

Ms. Bouffard is also in great demand as a performer of contemporary compositions, many of which have been composed for her. She has performed extensively throughout Canada as well as in France, Belgium, Portugal, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine.

Her debut release is entitled Songs of North with pianist David McIntyre. A collection of Canadian art songs pertaining to the ‘idea of North’.
