Canadian Music for Clarinet
Most of the music contained in this recording has not been recorded before, and the featured work, Sophie Carmen Eckardt-Gramatté’s « Rück-Rück » Sonata, is only available in a transcription of a wire recording. This collection is performed by clarinettist James Mark, Professor of Music at Mount Allison University, and pianist Penelope Mark, also a member of the Mount Allison Music Faculty. Dr. Mark is joined by percussionist Michel Deschênes, Instructor at the Université de Moncton and a member of the « Amerythme » percussion ensemble, in a recording of Richard Gibson’s Montañas del Fuego, written for and dedicated to Dr. Mark.
