Spirit Reel is a set of variations on an original reel of the same title. The reel tune is partially inspired by the rhythms of Cree and Metis fiddling. The violin and the button accordion are two of the most traditional instruments of Manitoba, as they are in the rest of Canada. In this piece they explore a few new aspects of their long-standing partnership. Recorded Nov. 10, 1988 at Jubilee place, Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute, Winnipeg

Lesotho is inspired by the earthy accordion-based pop music of the tiny, mountainous southern African state after which it is named. Recorded Nov. 11, 1990 at Jubilee place, Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute, Winnipeg

Metis Dance Variations was commisioned by Metis Arts of Manitoba Inc., to commemorate the centenary of the death of Louis Riel. The instrumentation is based on what might have been a typical livingroom gathering in old Manitoba – fiddle, button accordion, piano and drums. Recorded May 29, 1986 at Century 21 Studios, Winnipeg
