Composer Allan Gordon Bell grew up and still lives in Alberta, Canada. It's a part of Canada where the Canadian prairie rises up to meet the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Bell writes deeply personal music about this part of Canada that he knows so well.Written from sketches and music for friends, Kulesha describes The Devil's Dictionary as "a droll, acerbic compilation of humourous definitions."Invocation is a collection of 20th century sacred music performed by Musica Intima. The programme includes works by Urmas Sisask, Stephen Chatman, Barrie Cabena, and others.Ensemble Contemporain De Montréal perform varied works by Ana Sokolovic, Jean Lesage, Chan Ka Nin & more.Mezzo-soprano Jean StilWell performs works by Luciano Berio, R. Murray Schafer, and Igor Stravinsky.The four works in the third volume of Nouveaux Territoires by the Ensemble Contemporain De Montreal are representative of the century in which we live, with its blending of pop and highbrow culture, tradition and new technology.
