Colleen Athparia

Colleen Athparia makes her solo debut in this disc of Canadian, French and Spanish music with which she has become identified through her internationally acclaimed performances.

For this recording, Athparia has selected pieces from Spain, France and Canada that range in date of composition from 1890 to 1978. The six Spanish Dances, written by Enrique Granados in 1890, were inspired by Spanish folklore, and, as Athparia says, « Their Spanish flavour, evocative moods, and sensuous rhythms are very close to my heart. I love their spontaneity; I never play them the same way twice. »
