A Day In The Life of Squirrel (Squirrel Song) is in fact – all about the things that can or might happen in one day of the life of a character named Squirrel. This piece of music was commissioned by David Ian Foster in 2015. The music treats this particular Squirrel as a strong individual who is frightened by a trumpet playing Squirrel, discusses the meaning of life with other Squirrels, is fascinated by the neighbours cat, and of course still collects nuts and jumps from tree to tree. He even dreams. The music is designed to describe all this and more. It is written for Flute, Flute Head Joint, Oboe, Oboe Reed, Bb Clarinet, Bb Trumpet, Trumpet Mouth Piece, and 1 or 2 Pianos (including piano strings). It is a challenging piece with some slightly different techniques – but should be great fun.
