A Long Time Ago Into The Future was written for Mary Kenedi in 1986.
Michael S. Horwood's more than seventy compositions constitute a kaleidoscope of the traditional and the avant-garde, spanning a wide variety of contemporary idioms including twelve-tone, theatre pieces, electroacoustic (both live and pre-recorded), jazz, minimalism and neo-romanticism.
The music on this CD is clearly identified with birds but none of the pieces aim at imitation, except in passing.
