Musicians Wrestle Everywhere
« Founded in 1974 as a twelve-voice ensemble devoted to the study and performance of Renaissance vocal music, the University of Alberta Madrigal Singers has gradually increased into a forty-four member chamber choir. By increasing the number of voices in the Madrigal Singers, Dr. Ratzlaff has been able to expand the choir’s repertoire. This recording reflects his deep appreciation for the music of the German Romantics and his interest in the contemporary choral music of North America. We are particularly pleased to present the world premiere recording of Most Glorious Lord of Lyfe. This motet was written by Canadian Composer Leonard Enns in 1991.
