This piece was started in 2011 as an attempt to prove to myself that playing solitaire on my computer was not a complete waste of time. I’m not sure it was completely successful, but it did slow down the amount of time I played the game. I became obsessed with trying to depict to the way the game slowly works out. This is the result of multiple attempts. There are 5 unique melodic ideas and these are all stated at the beginning of the piece. The first is a depiction of the 10 empty spaces and use trills, so that when an empty place becomes available it is clear in the piece. The remaining 4 melodic ideas are the four suites (hearts, spades, diamonds, clubs) in order from lowest to highest; Ace to King. Rests indicate the movement from one move to another. A clap indicates a summary of the cards on the table, and slaps indicate a card is being flipped.
