Program notes:
There are many musical Hallelujahs but none that simply use the word(s) of praise
Hallelu-Jah as a repeating devotional mantra. Hallelu-Jah is the only text incorporated
in this music. Since this praise is found in the two rich religious traditions of the west,
Judaism and Christianity, the musical material that is used at various times, refers to one
or the other or to both traditions.
I gratefully acknowledge that this music was commissioned by the Mississauga Choral
Society and Joanne Bidini.
