Niibin is the second in a series of works representing an ‘Ojibway Four Seasons’ which will describe the traditional nomadic activities of the Ojibway speaking peoples throughout the course of a full year which were carried out from time immemorial, long before the coming of the European settlers. This concert suite for flute and piano is derived from the main orchestral work and was created ahead of its completion in order to be featured on the FACTOR funded, Centrediscs CD release, « Flute In The Wild » by Jaye Marsh. ‘Niibin Suite’ is wholeheartedly dedicated to Ojibway elder John Rice, Jaye Marsh and Amanda Graham
