Jenifer
for Octet
Written during his time living in Toronto for his oldest daughter, Jenifer (aka Jennifer). This is one of the few pieces that has lyrics written by the composer. It has a sense of longing and romance about it that brings a tear to the eye.
This piece is often played with the companion pieces, Jessica and Jackie (the 3 J’s) in a medley and was captured that was on the recording from Hugh’s room in Toronto. It does stand alone as well.
