This whimsical work makes a charming beginning or ending to any program.

The work begins with « Bluesy ».  In ABA form, the first section is based in a D blues scale with
frequent metre changes. The B section is a swing section for piano with accents from the winds.

Humouresque is light and fluffy with a tongue-in-cheek feel.

The lyrical and expressive « Slow Dance » stands as a contrast to the other movements. It is truly a trio
with each instrument complementing the others in equal importance.

« Thirds » is a light hearted exploration of the percussive playing each instrument.
