Orchestre Metropolitain
Over seventy minutes of dynamic orchestra sound is here presented for the enjoyment of the avid new music listener. Taken from the « Musique Actuelle » series of CBC Radio-Canada broadcasts, these are inspired and rich performances of works by three of Québec’s foremost contemporary composers.
« All three compositions are striking works full of interesting individual ideas, all organized with the rhapsodic, ad hoc structure of a tone poem. An exceptionally interesting disc, very well recorded. »
– Stevenson Classical Disc Guide
« There is some exceptional music here for listeners who will accept free-form musical associations. »
– Stephen Ellis, Fanfare
« The Orchestre Métropolitain conducted Walter Boudreau display zest and vigour in their performance of works by more ‘experimental’ figures of the recent generation of Canadian composers – works at the stylistic vanguard. »
– Malcolm Miller, Tempo (U.K.)
