This piece is part of a suite written for a special, ‘long-table’ dinner at the House of Boateng in Langford, British Columbia, just outside of Victoria. Chef Castro Boateng created a dish, to be served after the six main pieces in the suite were performed, each dish inspired by and using ingredients from the same location as the piece. This description set the scene for the audience.

« It’s a hot afternoon in August. You sit on a bench hidden away in the rose garden, reading a book, sometimes dozing as you listen to the bees and catch the sweet scent drifting on a light breeze. The beds are laid out neatly, with roses of different colours, from near and far places. They are all gathered here, in this peaceful spot, an oasis, hidden from the city around it. »
