This piece is part of a suite that was written for a special, ‘long-table’ dinner at the House of Boateng in Langford, British Columbia, just outside of Victoria. Chef Castro Boateng created a dish, to be served after the six main pieces in the suite were performed, each dish inspired by and using ingredients from the same location as the piece. This description set the scene for the audience.

« Take a deep breath, catch the scent of the forest and listen to the rain gently falling. You can hear a raven calling, the sound echoing through the trees. Feel the stillness where sound is muted, light filtered. Here you can find mushrooms growing on the forest floor, sometimes tucked in against fallen cedars. The living trees, with their gnarled trunks, reach upwards to a sky hidden from your view by their moss-covered branches. This is an ancient place. »
