« Queen of the Night » is a short work for SATB chorus that was inspired by a total eclipse of the moon that I experienced during a visit to the Catskill Mountains of New York State. The Catskills are not subjected to light pollution from any nearby cities so when it gets dark the night sky is amazingly clear. It makes for wonderful stargazing and a once in a lifetime experience of a total lunar eclipse was made doubly impressive.
