Blues for Mattie
for Octet
« Written during Bob’s weekly Sunday and Monday night gig at “Marty’s Café” in Calgary, this Blues has a compelling melody and blues chord progression with signature Erlendson tweaks. Mattie was an avid jazz friend, the roommate of his saxophone player and at every concert they played. She was a friendly face in the crowd, made good strong coffee and was a dear friend to the composer. This piece is easy to solo over, and very fun to play. »
