Machado’s poem recounts four dreams, each of which transforms the heart: into a healing fountain, into a beehive where old bitterness is transformed into white wax and sweet honey; into a blazing sun which warms us and makes us cry. Finally the poet dreams that all of these images are the presence of God in our heart. Can we dream God into existence?

Le poème de Machado évoque une série de rêves, qui transforment le coeur en une fontaine régénératrice, puis en une ruche d’abeilles en laquelle les vielles amertumes se métamorphosent en miel, et enfin en un soleil ardent qui réchauffe et qui fait pleurer. Rêves/symboles de la présence de Dieu dans notre coeur.
