A Little History
In November of 2002 I wrote a duet for flute and mezzo-soprano or unison choir of a piece of music called the Huron Carol; also known as the Canadian Carol. The melody of this carol is a 16th century French melody and the words are written by Fr. Jean de Brebeuf, a Christian missionary sent to the Huron Tribe.
As time went by I additionally re-arranged Huron Carol for flute alone,
two flutes and flute and violin.
The first performance of Huron Carol for flute and unison choir was given in December, 2002 by the Cathedral Choir at Holy Rosary Cathedral, CM -flute, (Vancouver, Canada).
This arrangement in its various guises has had numerous performances and recordings.
These include performances and recordings by Alison Wheeler – soprano
and Edward Carey – violin
