Embryo is an electroacoustic piece for solo flute with pre­recorded and processed mandolin (performed by Dan Cummings). The music is meant to depict dreams and aspirations in seed form and the miraculous early stages of their development. The flute part represents the embryo’s essential life source – hovering, protecting, cultivating and initiating new growth. The mandolin part embodies the vibrant activity and rapid transformation within the embryo as dreams take shape and develop.
