Founded in September, 1993, 40 fingers is a groups of experienced and active composers and performers on the Toronto scene. This is their first release. Any 40 fingers performance, and this recording is no exception, runs the gamut from purely improvised music to through-composed work, with a lot of time spent in between. Their music is both written and “oral”, formal and rhapsodic, carefully planned and brilliantly spontaneous, traditional and brand new.
