Described as a “new music visionary” (National Arts Centre), composer Andrew Staniland has established himself as one of Canada’s most important and innovative musical voices. His music is performed and broadcast internationally and has been described by Alex Ross in the New Yorker Magazine as “alternately beautiful and terrifying”. Recent accolades include three JUNO nominations, an East Coast Music Award (ECMA), the 2016 Terra Nova Young Innovators Award, and the National Grand Prize winner of EVOLUTION (presented in 2009 by CBC Radio 2/Espace Musique and The Banff Centre). As a leading composer of his generation, Andrew has been recognized by election to the Inaugural Cohort
of the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists of the Royal Society of Canada. www.andrewstaniland.com

Soprano Martha Guth, baritone Tyler Duncan, and pianist Erika Switzer are leading performers of art song in the 21st century. Their ensemble has toured extensively, bringing traditional and newly-commissioned scores to audiences worldwide. Individually, celebrated performers in their own right, they are prizewinners of an assortment of international competitions, including the Wigmore Hall, Robert Schumann, ARD, and Naumburg, and have appeared in orchestral performances led by conductors including James Gaffigan, Alan Gilbert, Seiji Ozawa, and Helmuth Rilling. Together, they bring fresh passion for the history and future of poetry and music. They believe in the power of cultivated expression as it transcends the human experience.
