This recording is the culmination of a long-harboured dream. Avant-garde and experimental music have entranced Jerry Ozipko 1969, when he first heard an orchestral concert of live performances of music by Krzysztof Penderecki, Iannis Xenakis and Edgard Varèse. In 1972, he founded Synapse – New Music Ensemble specifically for the purpose of introducing local audiences to the leading edges of new music.

Performed by Ensemble Mujirushi, including Michelle Milenkovic (soprano) and Charles Stolte, the musical works on this recording are each unique in their own way and have been carefully assembled into a performance order that displays a stylistic arch form. Featuring compositions by Dan Albertson (USA), Randy Raine-Reusch’s (Canada), Anestis Logothetis’s (Austria/Greece), Viola Rusche (Germany), Helve Sastok (Canada), Jerry Ozipko, Piotr Grella-Mozejko (Canada/Poland), Charles Stolte (Canada), Marek Choloniewski (Poland), and Shane Krepakevich (Canada).
