In their concert activity Luba and Ireneus Zuk – the Zuk Piano Duo – have earned a reputation for their active promotion of repertoire by Canadian composers, which they have performed in recital and on radio in Canada, the US, Europe and the Far East. Since the formation of the duo, the Zuks have commissioned and premiered a significant number of Canadian works.

This is the first CD recording (to our knowledge) devoted entirely to works for two pianos by Canadian composers. The chosen works, which span the second half of the 20th century, are written in a variety of styles that parallel closely the development of music in Canada – from folk-inspired idioms to the most experimental genres.

« This talented duo brought to bear considerable verve and stature in a recital of Canadian duo music. »
Evening News, Edinburgh

« The Zuks played the Canadian and British [composers] with as much bravura and in technically ideal ensemble as the rest of the programme. »
America, Philadelphia

« . . . their playing was characterized by a vigorous touch, a strong
individual style marked by both warmth and fire, and an assured familiarity with both the classical and modern idioms. »
